COVID 19 Pandemic!!!

SITUATION OVERVIEW

The first cases of COVID-19 were identified in Ohio on March 9, 2020. Governor DeWine declared a State of Emergency in order to increase resources available for state-response. March 11, 2020, a fourth case, the first of "community spread" was confirmed in Stark County. President Trump declared a national state of emergency on March 13, 2020 over the global COVID 19 coronavirus pandemic. The Board of Marion County Commissioners declared a State of Emergency on March 26, 2020. The first case of COVID-19 in Marion County was confirmed on March 20, 2020. There are currently 4 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Right now, we are sheltering in and only leaving the house for groceries or emergencies. All students are online and learning from home now.  The reason we are sheltering in is to stop the rapid spread of the deadly virus which gives the hospitals time to take care of the sick.  Plus time to build temporary hospital sites.    Right now Italy is having to make the dire decision on who has the best odds to survive and treat because the virus spread too quickly...up to 600 deaths per day in their country!

President Trump had to invoke the Defense Production Act where all automakers seize making cars, retool their plants to make ventilators which are in great demand.  Doctors and nurses are running out of personal protective equipment such as masks, shields, and gowns.  Many are having to reuse them which would have been cause for termination just a month ago! The serious ill are in hospitals and on ventilators for up to 21 days!  The lucky ones come off the ventilator make it back home.

Right now I'm looking at the TV statistics. 6:l1pm on 3/27/20.-
Worldwide cases-  592,975
Worldwide deaths- 27, 187
US case-100,597
US deaths- 1,550
Ohio cases-  1,137
Ohio deaths- 19
