SAD DAY!

We lost the heartbeat.  :-(  After seeing the heartbeat twice, we were starting to feel confident that this pregnancy would be OK, but we were wrong.  Courtney had cramping on and off since the ultrasound on Thursday and the only thing different was weaning of the Metformin as suggested by the OB.  That was the last time we saw this precious heart beating.  Courtney had a D&C this evening since she is on blood thinners....they didn't want her to miscarry naturally since it would could pose a danger to Courtney.

We are simply numb right now.....this makes miscarriage number 5!   .......Counting our blessings that we have Nevaeh, our little miracle to go home to and hold close to us.

8w1d- OB VISIT

Courtney had her first OB visit, which included an ultrasound......the ultrasound tech was upset that Courtney chose a private ultrasound to date the pregnancy over theirs.....in fact her exact words were, "We'll just see if they were accurate.....how far along are you? ....(8w2d)..... Well this is a medical ultrasound and I date you 8w1d....so your due date is August 14th not the 13th!".....geeeez.....so 8w1d it is from the medical perspective. Baby Barnett has a strong heartbeat of 144, which they were able to hear this time via a vaginal ultrasound!

As far as the other part of the OB visit goes, all is well..... Blood pressure 118/80, gained 1lb ( most likely progesterone bloat) and all meds remain the same except for weaning off metformin. ....next OB visit is in one month! .......next private ultrasound is on January 12! ;-)

8 WEEKS PREGNANT!!!

Dear Baby Barnett,

You are developing quickly this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your hands and feet, your eyelids practically cover your eyes, breathing tubes extend from your throat to the branches of your developing lungs, and your "tail" is just about gone. In your brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways.

We are daydreaming about your gender, but your external genitalia still hasn't developed enough to reveal whether Mommy is having a boy or a girl (Nevaeh insists you are a girl...she calls you her sister already!). Either way, you are about the size of a kidney bean and are constantly moving and shifting, though Mommy still can't feel it, but we sure did get to see you wiggle on the ultrasound three days ago!  Made us smile! Mommy is looking forward to the day you are big enough to have your heart beat detected on a home Doppler (I bet she will be able to hear it in a few weeks, like she did with your sister!).... then later feeling those first flutters from you wiggling all over the place!

We love you!
